A hall that keeps reinventing itself.

  1. 1909

A crown for the City of Lakes

Nawab Sultan Jahan Begum, the last Begum of Bhopal, had the foundation stone laid on 12 November 1909. Its elevation was shaped like an imperial crown, and inside, Western ballroom proportions met Bhopal's Nawabi ornament.

  2. 1956

Where Madhya Pradesh found its voice

When Madhya Pradesh was formed on 1 November 1956, Minto Hall became home to its Legislative Assembly. For forty years, until 1996, the laws and plans that shaped the young state were debated here.

  3. 2018–19

Restored by hand, rebuilt as a smart building

The state restored the hall as a convention centre. Artisans spent more than six months reviving the zardozi painting and carving in the central dome. Walls were repaired with traditional lime, surkhi, jaggery and bel, and a modern building-management system now runs quietly behind the heritage ceilings.

  4. 2021

    Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre

Renamed after Kushabhau Thakre, who was born in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, the hall is now one of the state's main venues for international conferences, summits and cultural gatherings.

  5. 2026

    AI enters the hall

In Madhya Pradesh's 70th year, the state's developers, students and founders meet in the old Assembly hall for DevFest Bhopal, a day of AI, Google Cloud, Android, Web and DevOps.

1956 → 2026 · Madhya Pradesh at 70

Seventy years ago, the state’s first Assembly sat here. This year, its developers do.

Madhya Pradesh turns 70 in 2026, the year of DevFest Bhopal. The room where the state was first governed becomes a place to learn, build and ship with AI and the cloud. Students from engineering colleges across MP, working developers and early-stage founders will share it for one day.

Inspired by the zardozi dome

Why here

Art, heritage and AI, in the heart of the state.

Heritage as the stage

We picked one of the state's most loved landmarks on purpose. Tech in Madhya Pradesh doesn't need to look elsewhere for its setting. It can grow out of the state's own history.

AI for Madhya Pradesh

Talks and workshops on Gemini, agents and Google Cloud, focused on what local developers, students and startups can build and ship for Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior and beyond.

Craft, then and now

The zardozi in the dome and the code on our screens both reward patience, pattern and a steady hand. DevFest celebrates both kinds of making under the same roof.

Talent that stays home

A world-class venue tells the city's engineering students that they don't have to leave the state to find serious tech. It's already here in Bhopal.
